Georgian Luger Dies After Crash

That's awful (I know, understatement). I've always wanted to try the luge too.

And thanks to the person who sent this. I was going to post it earlier, but I wanted to give kinkyb!tch's post a little run. Afterall, she spent a whole minute and a half on it.

  1. The whole team of Georgia left the games too.

  2. There were some still frames of this. Looks like the back of his head hit that support beam directly on. What a way to go...

    ReplyDelete
  3. Damn, I didn't see any of those pics. I did hear that there were a lot of crashes on that luge course. Or whatever they call it.

    ReplyDelete
  4. When I was looking for an official story on google I saw a couple still frames of the crash in images.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Damn, I just saw found those pics.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yea, and already jackasses all over the nation are playing the blame game on how many things could have been done to prevent it. Some people just need to learn when to stay quiet.

    ReplyDelete
  7. No kidding man. It's always amusing to hear the pundits play the blame game.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I do wonder if anything will be done about that track now.

    ReplyDelete
  9. No having said how amusing the blame game is, I'll go ahead and blame the whole country of Canada. Yep, sounds about right.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Not sure, I read something earlier that said this is the second death in the history of Olympic games for this sport. The other happened around when it first started.

It seemed like a freak accident. Not much you can do other than assume the possibilities are endless and surround the whole damn track with a foam pit and 12-inch thick padding.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Apparently, no one has heard of a dangerous sport anymore. It's tragic, but it happens in extreme sports like that.

    ReplyDelete
  12. A foam pit? That's funny.

As far as the second death in the sport? Yep, the other one in 1964.

And only the fourth death overall in the Olympics.

  13. I think I have a problem with my computer.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Not sure, but both my browsers (Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox) are working like shit. I have to switch every time one starts fucking up. Firefox goes dead after a while, links don't work, home buttons, back buttons, nothing. Just gets stuck and I have to turn it off and reload it. Then with Chrome 40% of everything I click needs to be reloaded.

    ReplyDelete
  15. That's strange. How long has your computer been doing that?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well, when I first got it I only had Firefox. After a while it developed some type of malware that would start processes up when Firefox was loaded. I got rid of that and tried Chrome, which has done the reloading bullshit from the start. I went back to Firefox and now I have a new set of problems with it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. So what are you going to do? And is at a laptop?

    ReplyDelete
  18. It's a Netbook, but it runs a full desktop version of XP. Not sure what I'm going to do. I don't really want to format Windows for the 60th time (lumping in my old Laptop and Desktop) but I can't find anything that would be causing the problem.

I would 'like' to put Linux on this thing, but Asus changed the wireless and video cards on this model and this model only. Wish I would have known that shit before I bought it.

    ReplyDelete
  19. And I don't really want to go through the trouble of getting Windows 7. I'm not sure if it's really all that much better aside from the aesthetic shit they copied.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I was thinking of getting a netbook.

    ReplyDelete
  21. They're pretty nice if you're getting one as a portable alternative to a desktop. Runs desktop OS's pretty well and comes equipped to do most general shit.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Of course, I'd try and get one that runs Linux. If not because I personally think it's better, because you probably couldn't run Kaspersky or any other heavy duty AV software without it bogging down your processor while running.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I have a laptop now, but I was thinking of getting a netbook just to have something smaller, and plus they are cheap.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The battery life is also nice. I have an 11.6" which isn't that much smaller than a regular Macbook laptop. On a full charge my little battery gauge reads around 7.5 hours, though I've never really timed it. Even when I'm running on "Super Performance Mode" with the processor working most of the time I get a good time on this thing.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Damn, the battery on this laptop sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Which reminds me, you ever see that dumbass iPad that Apple released to enter the market with Netbooks and e-Readers?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yep, sure did. What did you think of it?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I thought it was a joke. Being an e-Reader is one thing, but Jobs acted like Netbooks were stupid and this thing was practical. And from what I've read it's not a good e-Reader, either.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I was reading some reviews of it, they didn't seem very flattering.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The best part is they completely overkilled that thing trying to make it all around more convenient than a Netbook.

While trying to eliminate the flip design of typical Netbooks / Laptops, they went for the solid screen design. Now instead of the device protecting it's own screen, you need a protective sleeve or case of some sort. And in typical Apple fashion, they'd be glad to sell you one separate from the purchase of the device itself. To make matters worse, there is no comfortable way to hold this. It doesn't prop itself like a Laptop, are you just supposed to hold it up the whole time you're messing with it? Even if you wanted to lay it flat on a table to type, the fucking back of it is rounded!

Touch screen is a gimmick. A mouse requires you to flick your wrist a couple inches to move your cursor anywhere on the screen. It doesn't get any easier than that. I hate browsing the web on my cellphone enough as it is.

On-screen keyboard? Don't even have to explain why thats lame.

Those are problems before you even turn the damn thing on. Then you have lack of USB, Flash, MULTITASKING along with pathetic storage offerings and a weak cellphone processor. Yea, it doesn't even have the Atom 1.6's you can get in most Netbooks.

    ReplyDelete
  31. "Now instead of the device protecting it's own screen, you need a protective sleeve or case of some sort. And in typical Apple fashion, they'd be glad to sell you one separate from the purchase of the device itself."

    Exactly.

And it seems like you really looked into it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I didn't even care for it to begin with, but once Jobs started talking it up like the next revolutionary device, it had my attention. When it was released, I was dumbstruck. Watching Jobs stand on that stage and glorify this thing was like watching a 6-year-old talk up his GI Joe action figures.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I wonder if it will actually sell.

    ReplyDelete
  34. That being said, I would blow that kind of money on this flashlight I saw the other day. This guy was melting plastic pagers with that sucker.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm sure it will sell. Apple drones have already decided that it beats everything else on the market right now.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Dead serious. I'll try and find the video of it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsV3-IvS8UA

Thats the one I'm talking about, don't know where the video burning pagers is.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Damn. I read a few of the comments after that video. One of them read "this is more of a fire hazard then anything else."

    I'd have to agree.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Definitely, but still cool as hell. I was looking for a nice flashlight and came across that.

    ReplyDelete
  40. That thing is basically a weapon in the wrong hands.

    ReplyDelete
  41. That company makes high powered lasers, I wouldn't doubt if that whole flashlight is made with them. I want one of those purple ones, but too pricey for a pointless toy.

    ReplyDelete
  42. And the batteries last a whopping 20 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Wow. The batteries are rechargeable though right?

    ReplyDelete
  44. If not, then that would get really expensive.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Man, this place is dead tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I just read an article on the new Porsche GT3 Hybrid. Looks pretty interesting, they created a flywheel design that stores up kinetic energy when the car brakes and uses the energy to power electric motors up front for an additional 160 HP boost. Though, I could tell the guy writing the article didn't have a clue of what he was talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I've always been a fan of Porsche. I've wanted one since I was a little kid.

    ReplyDelete
  48. What do you think of the Panamera?

    ReplyDelete
  49. I never really cared for them. The old 911's seemed pretty cool but now Porsche's just seem like the poor mans supercar. I like the flywheel design, though. I liked it back when Daimler was talking about using it but I figured it would be a fruitless idea.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I've moved my car desire to a BMW Alpina B7. I've liked the 7 series for awhile now.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I don't think the Panamera will do well, but the commercial was bad ass.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I liked the idea of the Panamera but didn't care for the rear end or how they made the front end look like all other Porsche's. I do like four seat/door luxury touring cars with muscle, though. Ever see the Jaguar XFR?

    ReplyDelete
  53. The commercial was neat, and that interior looked drop dead gorgeous.

    ReplyDelete
  54. No I haven't. My aunt has the XJR but I haven't seen the XFR.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yeah, the interior does look great.

    ReplyDelete
  56. New BMW's don't do it for me. I'll always love the M-series, but I prefer older style Bimmers. I really like the late-80's to mid-90's designs of their cars.

I could also go for one of those new CTS-V's. They look even better than before, more power, AWD, magnetic suspension? Shit, I'd love one of those things.

    ReplyDelete
  57. You like the Cadillac huh? See, I was a fan of the old body style of the STS.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Well, I always liked the CTS-V's but I just liked them. When I first got my GTO, my manager wanted to trade me V. I was tempted but didn't want to trade a new '06 for a used two owner '04. Once I heard they started offering the bigger engine and AWD, they started sounding real good. Then I saw one of the newer ones in person and it was stunning.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I just looked at a CTS-V on Ebay. A black one. Yeah, that is nice.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm also real keen on those GM motors.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Well, I consider myself to be somewhat of an enthusiast.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Oh, and EV, did you see DeJuan Blair had 22 points and 23 rebounds in the Rookie/Sophomore game?

Suns don't have a young badass like that.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I was smoking one last birthday bowl, Spurs. Even though I'm kind of an hour late.

No, I didn't see that. You're right, they don't. Fuck you. Last I checked, that young badass along with the Frenchie and Mr. Fundamental haven't been doing much better than the Suns.

I can still hope for this trade with Philly.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Nice. Hope you enjoyed the bowl man. And shit, last night when you said it was birthday, I told myself I would put "Happy Birthday" on a post today, and I completely forgot. Sorry man. Shit.

And you are right about "Frenchie and Mr. Fundamental."

Oh, and that trade won't help.

    ReplyDelete
  65. You don't think it'd help? Improvement on defense and a scorer in Iggy. Plus, you have to consider how much better Nash makes Amare. I guarantee Stat won't be as good on another team.

    ReplyDelete
  66. No problem on the Birthday thing, thanks for the thought.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Amare won't be. But Iggy reminds me too much of Jason Richardson. It's not like that trade will put the Suns in championship contender status.

    ReplyDelete
  68. No problem man, I can't believe I forgot.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Probably won't but it's still a step in the right direction. I think you're wrong about Iggy being like Rich. His output would increase if he got minutes with Nash.

    ReplyDelete
  70. J Rich has been more of a perimeter shooter lately.

    ReplyDelete
  71. It will increase for sure. But it might be time to start over from scratch. Of course, that's hard to do. Fans aren't going to be happy with three or four 20 win seasons.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Canadian win a ring, but I just don't see it happy.

    ReplyDelete
  72. He has. The other night I saw parts of a reply when he won the slam dunk contest, I forgot how athletic he was.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Besides, Iggy is a fun ass player to watch, which was part of the reason why I didn't want to see them trade Amare right now. I know a Spurs fan can't relate, but sometimes exciting games/players are fun to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Dude, back in the day the J Rich / B Diddy back court was the best shit to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Iggy is a fun player to watch.

And your comment about the Spurs was funny.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Yep, Golden State was fun to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Just saw on ESPN the Suns met with the Cavs, probably over Amare. I hope nothing happened, there isn't anybody on the Cavs that spark my interests.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Salary dump my friend. For Ilguaskas if it happens.

Sorry bud, time for the Suns to start over from scratch.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Who knows? Maybe in 25 years when the Suns are back in championship contention they will remember to stay on the bench instead of running onto the floor.

    ReplyDelete
  80. But eventually the Suns will be broken up. Same for the Spurs. Sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I know. I was hoping for one last season, I figured he'd be gone after this year anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  82. He's not going to opt out of 17 million a year. But they would probably trade him this summer anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I know, if it was up to him he'd stay a Sun. It's always the management throwing his name around in trade rumors every year.

    ReplyDelete
  84. That's true. His name is always in the rumor mill.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Alright. I'm gonna hit the sack, Spurs. Talk to you later.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Take it easy EV. Thanks for coming by tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I know ive been absent, but why wasnt I included in Kinkybitch's Valentines thingy?
And how come Pammy deleted me from her facebook?

    Whats everyone doing for V-Day?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Whose anonymous

    just add me back
I deleted a lot of people about 2 months ago

    ReplyDelete
  89. Spurs, you and EV talking sports is probably the ultimate thread killer, weekend or not. The majprity of our commenters are female and silly. Post something about some gay ass movie or some music that sucks and we might have weekend comments. You won't lose EV because his musical tastes are pretty close to kb's.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Anonymous:

I have no plans for Valentine's Day.

    ReplyDelete
  91. CBT:

Yeah, I'm aware nobody like the sports talk. But there was no one else commenting, so we were talking sports.

    ReplyDelete
  92. CBT, lol! Leave EV alone, he is harmless. I don't mind the sports talk, but I will interrupt it when I can. That's just me. My Chinese Zodiac Sign said I should just embrace who I am, despite others thinking I come off too strong. I'm the year of the cock, in case anyone was wondering. Rooster if you want to be all technical, but I bought a charm deal thing@that needle landmark in Seattle once, and it said "year of the cock", who am I to argue with the smartness that oozes out of that city?

If everyone doesn't get laid tonight, you are all being deleted from my friend's list, just sayin'. Except for Wop, he is going to be sad becuase 2/14 is not a good day for him. :( Wop, I will send good vibes your way so you will not be down tomorrow. =)

    ReplyDelete
  93. Have a good weekend, bitches!

    ReplyDelete
  94. kinkyb!tch:

Do you have plans tonight? Are you going out and seeing that movie?

    ReplyDelete
  95. kb, oddly enough I am year of the dog. EV needs to learn to respect his elders. Other than that he is a good kid.

    ReplyDelete
  96. He didn't really respect you too much on the new post CBT.
