FBI funded van der Sloot's trip to Peru

From the NY Post.com:

Federal agents trying to build an extortion case against Joran van der Sloot secretly gave him the cash that wound up funding his trip to Peru, where he killed a young woman exactly five years after the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, The Post has learned.

Van der Sloot tried to shake down Holloway's mother by offering information about her daughter's 2005 disappearance, and agents decided to set him up with a $25,000 payoff, a source told The Post yesterday.

An intermediary acting under the direction of the FBI gave van der Sloot the dough in Aruba on May 10 -- and four days later, he flew to Peru, where he allegedly murdered 21-year-old Stephany Flores in his Lima hotel room.

Van der Sloot was free to travel because after the money was given to the 22-year-old Dutch national, the feds didn't promptly file charges against him. US authorities also did not ask that he be detained in Aruba, even after officials there warned that he was about to leave the island, the source said.

The failure to stop van der Sloot shocked and infuriated Holloway's mom, Beth Twitty. She had been "told that an arrest was going to happen before he left" Aruba, where he was the last person believed to have seen Holloway alive when she vanished, the source said.

Van der Sloot took his payola from the feds -- a $15,000 wire transfer and $10,000 in cash -- and went to Peru to play poker, the source said.

He also told authorities in Peru he was high on weed when he killed her. I'd blame the pot. I know when I'm high I want to kill everyone I see. Animals too.

  1. Not much EV, what are you up to?

  2. Just moving stuff around my room. Been doing that the past few hours. Also started doing my jog in the morning today. I'm ready to chill out with a bowl. I think I'll feel a little more energetic once I eat, though.

  3. I guess I better take it easy before I end up heading to Peru and killing a chick.

  4. You should relax before you hit the bowl EV. You don't want to get the reefer madness and go outside your house and blast up the neigbhorhood.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I still haven't seen that. I see that it's occasionally on before the HBO channels, but don't know why.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Oh yeah there is. When I look at sites that are mentioning CA marijuana dispenseries and there are comments, it's amazing some of the shit people who are against legalization come up with.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Not to pick on Texas again, but I'd guess that 98% if not more of the die hard anti-marijuana people on the ultra conservative board I go on are Texans. And yeah, their opinions on the matter are pretty far out there. Even worse than what Hollywood could come up with.

  8. I liked Fear in Loathing in Las Vegas.. had a lot of that Reefer Madness stuff in it.. But I did see some of RM and it wasn't very good.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I have never read comments by people like that, but that sounds funny. I am not surprised either.. I talked to some ultra conservative Christians who are beyond stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yeah EV, sadly I don't ever see legalization passing at a state level here. I still have hope it will be passed on a national level.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I can see it being legalized in some states like Oregon or Mass. and some of the other New England states... There is a good chance CA will pass it into law...

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yeah, I went back and fourth with one of those guys once. Dude has a massive flagpole in front of his Katy house with a large Texas flag and another below it that says "Come and Take it" underneath a cannon. I got a crack out of that myself.

And yeah, Fear and Loathing is one of my favorite movies. I liked that part when he's like "potsheads call this a roach, because it resembles a roach's back" and how they reacted. Great movie.

  13. I know somebody who lives in Oregon and she smokes the medical MJ.. I think they also have assisted suicide, so Portland and ultra liberal..

I think the liberals will legalize it before the conservatives will, even though conservs like to talk about less government. Ron Paul is one who actually does believe in less government..

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm kind of curious to see how it pans out here. I heard they're going to be putting up a bill we can vote on for legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes. Naturally, they won't just put legalization up on the table.

I'm seriously contemplating moving to one of the states that are very laxed on the whole thing. I already want to get the fuck out of here as it is. I heard that some places have it on a citation basis now, not even a misdemeanor.

  15. The government does a fantastic job of running things Astrid: Katrina, BP, Social Security, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, drug wars, the post office, justice sytems, and they'll really fuck the healhcare up when they get their hands on that.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I don't think the libs will do it. At least, not until enough left-leaning states start favoring it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. What do you think spurs.. Do you think liberals will legalized it before conservatives?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yea.. if there were more Ron Pauls in the party, this wouldn't be an issue.. He was the only I liked in the primary, but he isn't perfect. At least he didn't go neocon when the rest of the party did...

  19. No Astid. The real liberals don't have any power. There's been a Democratic majority congress for what, 4 years? Those people (Republicans, Democrats) don't give a shit about what people want, so it won't happen. Same reason we are still in Iraq and Afghanistan.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I saw where the Progressives (that's a minority) are now bitching about Obama. Those fucks have no power either. Corporations have the power.

    ReplyDelete
  21. It's all corporate interests. Marijuana already has a massive underground while still being prohibited in the United State. There's no easy way for them to monopolize it, so it will stay illegal.

State level is all you need, though. The feds aren't roaming the streets for potheads.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't think congress has the power to legalize mj on a national level.. If they tried to, the conservatives would start the state rights debate..

And there isn't enough of them actually supporting it... Obama won't even talk about it, so I think it will start on the state level..

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think you have a good point EV, but wouldn't the solution be.. you can smoke it, you can't deal it? 2 plants to one person?

I think some country has the 2 plants rule..

    ReplyDelete
  24. part of the problem in our country is the criminalization of it also... it's not legal to smoke it in Germany, but it's not a crime either.. They really just don't like people selling drugs..

    ReplyDelete
  25. You'd have to find a way for them to get the product for little to nothing. Right now, it's a middle-man venture. They'd be entering a competitive market, which is where they lose interests.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Why did our government let van der sloot go with 25k and gave him the chance to kill somebody else?

    This is messed up...

    ReplyDelete
  27. spurs.. do you get pissed off when you talk about politics? I can't tell... but it doesn't bother me..

    I like Whale Wars now...

    ReplyDelete
  28. The government could cut out the middle man if they wanted to. If joints and bags were sold at stores, I'd go there before calling up the weed man.

    ReplyDelete
  29. and who the hell came up with it's the gateway drug argument... that was so funny..

You can tell they are desperate to find some reason to be against legalization....

    ReplyDelete
  30. That is messed up Astrid. I do give them credit for at least trying to bring some type of justice on him. Of course, the trip to Peru fucked it all up.

    ReplyDelete
  31. im christian
    if we came from apes
how come were not hairy and have a big mouth
and did we end up looking like we do know
    and besides
there isnt any serious proof of apes
they showd a video saying an ape was wondering around in the forest
that thing looked exactly like a costume that i had saw at a store
know one ever cought an ape

    ReplyDelete
  32. No, I don't get pissed off Astrid. And I was thinking of catching another episode of Whale Wars.

    ReplyDelete
  33. LOL... I am reading crazy fundamental Christian responses

[Question about the logic in light being created on the first day, but the sun being created on the fourth.]

The sun isn't the only source of light you know? Think of a cloudly day, there's light coming from somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  34. There is much more proof than the Christians give credit for. Anytime a Christian argues evolution using current day images, they're way in over their head.

There's certainly leaps and bounds more proof than there is a shred for religion, but that's a different topic.

I wasn't referring to the drug dealers, Spurs. The difference between alcohol prohibition and weed is alcohol was centralized. There was a huge market boom for the mob when they prohibited alcohol. There really isn't a major centralized weed trade for them to regulate the same way, they'd be playing the middle man game with outside sources.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well, if it was grown and distributed like the tobacco and alcohol companies have (and they've done a damn good job), I'd say that would be a great thing. And they'd own the market really fast.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think the problem comes with companies outsourcing for a cheaper product, and it will probably always be cheaper coming out of another country. Otherwise, the government would have to establish the market themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  37. So you plan on doing anyting exciting during your break Astrid?

    ReplyDelete
  38. legalize weed and regulate it. its less harmful than booze. and that reefer madness was a successful propaganda movie made by the feds. the government uses stupid scare tactics to keep us under control.....much like religion does the same thing.

    ReplyDelete
  39. not much man. just laughing at that van der sloths stupid bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  40. now all the scared anti-drug people are gonna use this as a leg to stand on against legalizing weed.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yeah, I'd say that was lame he said that and lame they released that statement, but I understand why.

    ReplyDelete
  42. maybe hes just trying to find an excuse to say he wasnt in his right mind and try to get a lesser sentence. but dont blame your actions on something as harmless as lemonade.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I agre. I thought that was probably his thinking even saying that.

    ReplyDelete
  44. just like when i went to court over a ticket and some chick was there for shoplifting and she told the judge that she was drunk and wasnt thinking straight. she said that she wouldnt have done that if she was sober. then the judge says do you always steal when youre drunk? if so you have a bigger problem than stealing. so he fined her and sentenced her to alcohol treatment classes.

    ReplyDelete
  45. i guess she thought she would be able to slide her way out of it by blaming it on booze.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yeah, I was just about to write that when she got the the alcohol classes she probably began to think she didn't have a problem.

    ReplyDelete
  47. those classes slowly drain your money. one drop at a time. my older brother had to go to court ordered anger management classes twice a week for 4 months. each time he went he had to pay $30 bucks. one of my friends had to do a court ordered drug treatment program too. he had to pay $50 each class.

  48. speaking of money makers, our speed cameras are coming down. finally.

    ReplyDelete
  49. That's good. Guess that experiment didn't pay off.

    ReplyDelete
  50. the governor at the time specifically said that it was the generate revenue for the state. fucking scam.

    ReplyDelete
  51. That's one issue I didn't care about. I have no sympathy for people who feel the need to go 15 over at all times. Especially when the cameras are out in the open and have signs warning you of zones a quarter mile away.

    ReplyDelete
  52. during the commute times you cant even go the speed limit. depending on the direction of travel sometimes its almost a parking lot.

    ReplyDelete
  53. How long have they been up? Like two years?

    ReplyDelete
  54. I don't know, but the issue around them just pisses me off. Of all the fucking things Arizonans could be passionate about, it's getting these goddamned cameras off the freeways.

You'd have to really be drifting in your own world to miss the things.

    ReplyDelete
  55. i would rather have a cop on the road than a camera. cameras cant pull over dui drivers.

    ReplyDelete
  56. The cops are on the road, but are generally useless when it comes to regulating the speed.

    ReplyDelete
  57. haha.. Chris Brown is kicked out of the UK for being a woman beater..

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yeah, that guy's career is over.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I liked him before, but I don't anymore.. I like how Hollywood isn't just forgiving for it..

    ReplyDelete
  60. The judge didn't cater to him because he is a celebrity either..

    ReplyDelete
  61. He certainly has paid for his crime.

    ReplyDelete
  62. A cop isn't going to dispense tickets at the rate a single camera could. The cameras are just stationary help. Technically, the free up the burden of issuing individual speeding tickets and allow them to focus on other shit. It's not like they laid off any officers when the cameras were put up.

  63. I can't believe Carly Fiorina won the primary... wtf were people thinking? She got a 20 million parachute for leaving HP, well she was actually forced to leave by the board because she was a shitty CEO..

Meg Whitman I can understand more.. but Fiorina come on, wtf

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yeah, these November elections are going to be interesting.

  65. I see you slowed down posting new stuff spurs
